The Hunger Games: Illustrated Edition
by Suzanne Collins
I first read The Hunger Games trilogy eleven years ago and I loved it. I'm rereading it now to prepare for Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as well as Sunrise on the Reaping.
Needless to say I still love it. Despite remembering a lot of major moments, albeit not necessarily in the correct order, the story remained engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat. I adored both Rue and Peeta. I loved seeing Katniss slowly come to terms with the fact that maybe Haymitch and Peeta do actually know what they're talking about in regards to appeasing the audience. Cinna himself is such a fantastic character and I can't wait to see him again in Catching Fire. There are so many twisted moments in this story, but like the Capitol civilians, I was eating them up. Truly holds up after all these years, I can't wait to potentially read them again if Suzanne writes another prequel.
