Beginning Theory: An Introduction to Literary and Cultural Theory by Peter Barry

4.0

A great and simple handbook for people who want to begin understanding literary theory. The book breaks down literary theories and movements chapter by chapter, first explaining the theory, giving examples, and then further reading for the theory. An obvious scholar, Barry somehow explains these complex theories in a very basic way without being simplistic. My only critique was the exclusion of Crip Theory, and that Barry got a bit technical when describing 'theory after theory'.
