I didn't care for James/Wendy as much as I did for Tristan/Sara. Maybe it's because this is the first book? James is a very sly and conniving man. He's like a python winding around his victims very slowly. James felt very insincere and I could not trust him at all, even after he reconciled with Wendy. I think at one point close to the end, during his POV, he hopes that Wendy doesn't think he's using her again, and I just assumed he would be. I thought Wendy was okay as a character, but after years of constant neglect, I feel like she should have known that her dad was not on her side. Also, the plot twists felt really random and the side characters were just whipped up to serve their purpose.
The hint of danger stretches out like tentacles and suctions to my skin like a dark caress. It’s exciting, even if I know it shouldn’t be.
