A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson

4.0

Such an enjoyable read! I stayed up way too late on multiple nights reading this book, totally engrossed in this Southern family tale of three generations of women separated by 15 years each. The grandmother is 45, the mother is 30, and the daughter has arrived at the fraught age (for their family history) of 15. It has tinges of that dark Southern gothic thing going on, but it is also a hopeful, funny, sweet book. This is one of those books that I didn't want to put down (cliché!) and that occupied my thoughts as I went about my day-- super compelling and readable but well-crafted.
