Istyria book blog ~ B's world of enchanted books

First of all, I must warn you for spoilers. SPOILERS AHEAD! Now you know that too. Moving on...

Okay... first... SO MANY FEELS! Oh my god. So much happens in this book that I don't even know where to start... I guess the beginning. The book opens with Katniss in the woods. It's the day the Victor Tour starts and she and her mother and sister have moved to the Victor's Village. When they're not in front of camera's, Peeta and Katniss are pretty cool to each other. They don't really talk. But I know there's something. I feel that spark. On the tour it soon becomes obvious that some things in the country aren't right. There are uprisings and President Snow wants Katniss to convince them her act with the berries was out of love, not defiance. Or else... every one she knows is in danger. But it doesn't matter how hard they try, becomes Snow doesn't believe it. So he surprises the country when he anounces the next Hunger Games, the third Quarter Quell. The tributes will be chosen from existing victors. So Katniss goes back in. Haymitch gets picked too, but Peeta volunteers. And then they're back in the capitol before they realize it.

Again, so much happens in this book and what I just described was just a small part of it. Horrible things happen. That president is MEAN! I don't like him. And before we know it, it ends with a HUGE bang. I'm lucky enough to have the third book, ready to be read. But I can imagine that those of you who read it when it came out, we're in agony because of the wait. When I finally got to read this book the first time, the third was already out so I didn't have to wait.

I think this is my favorite of the three books and I know it is for a lot of other folks. It's darker and a lot more feels and stuff in this book. And the romance... I was for Peeta and Katniss in the first book and in this one it hasn't changed. Even between all the danger and tension, there are a few swoon-worthy moments. And I don't like Gale. Don't know why. I just... don't.

I'm not going to bother talking about the characters. The only thing I'll say is that I love all the good guys and I hate the bad guys. So I'm going to talk about the movie, which I've just seen yesterday (the day before I wrote this review that is... The 25th of November). It's a very good adaption in my eyes. They left a few things out and changed a few details, but I don't really mind that. The movie itself was awesome. No more shaky cam like in the first movie either. And great casting. I really have to give them props for that. The casting in these movies is great so far and by now, Jennifer Lawrence really is Katniss and she's such a great actress. So I loved the movie! It's a shame they left out the bit with Haymitch's hunger games, but again, they must have had their reasons so. The movie is still good and I really recommend fans of the books or just the first movie to watch it. They are screwing us over with the last movie though. Splitting it in two. I hate it when they do that.

So great book with a great movie adaption. I love it and I really recommend it to the folks who loved the first book. And I want a mockingjay pin. And I liked this book way more now than the first time I read it!
