Aquaman, Volume 1: The Trench by Geoff Johns

3.0

Aquaman is called to respond when humanoid fish-dudes start attacking people. These humanoid fish-dudes aren't like other fish and don't respond as such to his usual commands. HE IS ON THE CASE TO FIND OUT WHY ALONGSIDE THE MERMAID-BUT-NOT LADY, AQUA-WOMAN. Or Mera. Whatever her name is.

Not sure why I liked this one so much. I wasn't a big fan of Aquaman before. The writers seemed to pick up on this trend of the fish-guy being cast to the wayside and referenced it a few times in the story. I wouldn't say there's a joke on every page as some of the reviews state, but there were moments and I stayed engaged to the end despite knowing nothing about the guy beforehand.
