interview with the vampire is the story told by louis de pointe du lac to journalist daniel molloy (the boy, his name wasn't mentioned in the first book) from a short time before he is turned into a vampire by lestat de lioncourt until the present where he is telling him his story.

louis has nothing to lose in the current day when he is telling his story and his objective is to have daniel publish his story (which is a big no no in vampire laws... about telling the world abour vampires).

he tells him about his married-like life with lestat and about their daughter claudia. louis tells his story with anger and resentment for lestat but his harsh façade breaks a lot during the second part of the book.

the first half of the book has some things that icked me a lot, like how creepy louis was towards claudia (but anne rice had a thing for romanticizing pedophilia and it's gonna happen a lot in the next books YIKES). but it also had amazing parts that legitimately scared the shit out of me.

the second part and armand had me kicking my feet and giggling like an idiot. but obviously, this is a dark gothic book, happiness won't last and everything goes downhill for our characters. this last part of the book is amazing.

i didn't read books before but the amc's series made me NEED to read these books and i'm officially obsessed and this catapulted me to be a reader now.
