Read Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature in Troubled Times by Azar Nafisi

challenging hopeful informative reflective

4.0

Beautiful, thoughtful series of letters from Nafisi to her deceased father, blending personal reflection, social musings, and literary analysis. She deepened my appreciation of some favorite writers and helped me think about authors I've disliked in new ways. Naturally, I didn't always agree with her points, such as the insinuation content warnings prevent people from engaging with difficult material rather than making it easier for people to go in prepared, but this was a rewarding book.
