The Secret of the Mansion by Julie Campbell

4.0

The first book in the Trixie Belden series. It’s been a long time since I last read these books, so it’s fun to reread these childhood favourites again. I did forget just how old these books are, and considering they were written in the 50’s they still holdup fairly well for the modern reader.

This book launched you nicely into the world of Trixie Belden, and with Trixie, Honey and Jim all getting to know each other, you get to know them as well. This was a pretty classic format for the series, with the discovery of mysterious clues and the uncovering of a mystery as such, but it had a good interesting plot, and only the occasional objectionable comment from characters – they can be a bit of a judgemental lot at times.
