The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters by Balli Kaur Jaswal
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? Yes
- Loveable characters? It's complicated
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
I liked this alright and it was an interesting insight into a country and culture I don't know a lot about. The Sikh in India (and the UK). I don't know if I would call the trip and what they learned and did "Adventures" but ok. It made me think about my own upbringing (female, white, Central Europe) and also a bit about the relationship to my mum. I wish the characters would have been a bit more complex sometimes and I thought the plot was dragging in parts, but there also was a nice twist towards the end abou Jezmeen and her career.
