I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast Is Me by Jamison Shea

3.25

The concept was okay…
Black ballerina in Paris learns the age old tale of having to work 10x harder than her white peers to realize that it doesn’t matter how good she is at her craft because she will never be white. She later finds herself making a deal with a demon to claim what she desires.

I know the book wouldn’t be the book if the FMC made better decisions but that alone was frustrating. I kept thinking “A Black girl would never do this.”

Plot aside, the execution is what fell flat for me & made it a drag for me to get through. There is a LOT of ballet jargon & pot holes that made it a read that left me with questions rather than answers.

I wouldn’t read it again.
