Calamity Jack by Nathan Hale, Shannon Hale, Dean Hale
5.0
I am a fan of everything I've read from Shannon Hale. I read Rapunzel's Revenge in elementary and again last year and this was a great sequel.
In this we get to see Jack's backstory and Jack and Rapunzel get to save his town much like they saved her land in book 1. Before he left for the wild west, he stole a goose from the tyrannic giants through his schemes and pixie partner to help support his Mom's restaurant which the giants have been stealing from for years. After accidentally killing one of the giants who falls from his magic beanstalk, his mother sends him away. When he comes back with Rapunzel, he finds that the giants have taken over his city by keeping the giant ants in the city at bay.
Jack tries to tell Rapunzel his feelings for her by showing how good of a person he is (due to his insecurities of not feeling like a great person) but Rapunzel is already charmed and just loves him for him.
Also, yes, I love this book partially because I agree with Jack that Rapunzel is hot.
