Read an ARC.
Spectacular. Needed this as a palate cleanser and ended up being richly rewarded with a fantastic story! While it is book #2 you could read this as a standalone and be quite satisfied.
A couple modernisms but otherwise felt very authentic. The main characters have distinct personalities and chemistry without immediately falling into bed with one another. The supporting characters have just enough substance to remain plausible without constantly referencing what else is going on in the series.
Would definitely read more of these!
