Burnout by Rebecca Jenshak
3.0

Thank you to the Must Love Audio team for my ALC.

I will be completely honest: I requested this ALC because of the narrators. Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon in a duet narration?? Sign. Me. Up. 👏🏽

Burnout is a new adult sports romance featuring an Olympian gymnast who loves pink and a tattooed bad boy motocross rider who loves black. After Knox acts impulsively, his career as a professional motocross rider is on the line. Solution? Ask Avery to train him and find another team. I know you're probably thinking how the heck is motocross is related to gymnastics...but trust me, it will make sense when you read the book. I was initially skeptical about how those two sports could even be paired together, but the author proved me wrong.

Story-wise, this was a super sweet and spicy new adult sports romance. I loved all of the parts about motocross and gymnastics, especially when those two sports crossed over. Avery and Knox have their own respective journey to take in the sports world, and we get to see them grow as people, as athletes, and as a couple. It's a very typical love story. Avery is your typical good girl heroine. Knox is your typical bad boy with a messed up backstory and a heart of gold. The sports aspect is what makes this story stand out. This crossover between gymnastics and motocross is just so much fun. Knox's family is also a lot of fun, and there's a lot to more to explore there. As for Avery, we don't know much about her family because her story is mostly focused on her journey to make a comeback.

In all honesty, this book gave me some serious One Tree Hill vibes. If you're a fan of the show, I think you will really enjoy this book. And for the love all that is holy, please listen to it on audio. The duet narration is the BEST.

P.S. The nickname "princess" is just so old, but Teddy Hamilton makes it work.
