Wind and Truth
by Brandon Sanderson
i think this had 2 fundamental flaws:
1) the structure of a countdown to an important deadline meant that we had about 1000 pages of build up (literally).
2) it was just too big. there were at least 5 main storylines going on at once, with regular asides to smaller plot points. there was also way too much to keep track of from a worldbuilding perspective - we're on the path to get a lot bigger than just roshar, which was a handful to remember all on its own. i'll withhold judgment until i read the next saga.
i liked the storylines that stayed local. adolin & yanagawn in azimir, venli & sigzil in the shattered plains, even learning the history of roshar and the recreance. but I feel a little lost in the larger cosmere with the rest of it, especially as someone who has really only read stormlight and a few of the standalones/secret projects. we'll see how it goes in arc #2.
