Caligula by David Greig, Albert Camus

5.0

This is the first writing by Camus that I came across, which happened to be while I was still in high school. I remember that the play had been excellently performed (with a twist) at the local theatre, which totally triggered my interest in his writings.

A few years later I submitted my thesis on Existentialism, and here I am back to his play, after all these years, just to confirm that it is remarkably good. The terror, the absurd, the madness, paired with an unfulfilled yearn for something deeper, higher perfectly depicted in the portrait of Caius.
