I actually thought that this was a very useful book. It explain that history of Shadowhunters, Idris, Silent Brothers, and Iron Sisters way more thoroughly. I'm glad that this is a separate book from the series because if it had been in one of the other books, I would have been very bored.

I also really like the little revisions that Jace, Clary, and Simon did. I think that it kind of breaks up the monotony of the longer passages.
