The Korean War: A History
by Bruce Cumings
It's official- I knew next to nothing about the Korean War. Structured thematically rather than chronologically, Cuming's brief history of this forgotten/never-known fratricidal war will make anyone who eschews nonfiction read with earnest. His analysis illuminates how and why: the war irrecoverably expanded the US industrial-military complex, North Korea continues to live both its Japanese and South Korean wars, and we Americans have replicated our Korean experience in Iraq.
