The story opens with Nate's book club being told by the librarian that she's discovered a journal written by one of the students from PS38 100 years ago, one who was also a cartoonist. Then the principal asks him to show a new kid, Breckenridge, around. And, for awhile, Nate works to try and befriend Breckenridge, but then he remembers why he seems so familiar... Thank goodness Deedee saves the day before the school scavenger hunt.
