Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia

5.0

Broken Beautiful Hearts is a poignant, important story about something too many people are afraid to discuss -- abusive relationships.

I really sympathized with Peyton. She had never had anything like this happen to her before, and she could not believe that her loving, kind boyfriend not only pushed her down the stairs -- and severely injured her and her chances of being a soccer star -- but also lied to everyone about hurting her. This lie had a ripple effect on her entire life, which in return left her ostracized at school, and left without her best friends.

This story is extremely emotional, and deeply touching. Despite definitely being fiction and at times a little campy (and what YA book isnt?) I think it is an important read for teenagers, especially those that are dating.
