City of Thieves by David Benioff

This was such a satisfying book to read because it was so much fun to experience. Historical fiction doesn't really pop out to me but I think a part of why I enjoyed this book so much is because I was pleasantly surprised by it. Characters are interesting and feed off one another, Kolya especially is a treat, while Lev is busy trying to recognize his own identity and feelings as a seventeen year old boy. There are definitely parts of melodrama, but then someone will say something like, "How long can a person go without shitting?" Incredibly charming without trying to be.
