A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas
4.0

In which Sherlock Holmes is in fact Charlotte Holmes, a brilliant young woman of 25 who refuses to meet societal expectations by finding a husband and wedding him. She decides to make herself unmarriageable by ridding herself of her virginity, only to have it backfire when her assignée drunkenly tells all to his wife, who shows up to catch the act with other society ladies.

Charlotte is to be banished to the countryside by her parents, and so she decides to strike out on her own in London.

This was fun, imagining a female Holmes, especially one who is a bit socially awkward but has made the effort to appear.to integrate with society while keeping her eccentricity.
