The Secrets We Kept
by Lara Prescott
I liked the overarching story but found the organization and method of storytelling (multiple narrators and timelines) cut into my enjoyment. I’m rounding this up to 4, mostly because I appreciate any story that works in the lavender scare and appreciated the Russian literature aspect.
It may take you a while to get into this book, you will be confused (you have to pay attention) and initially you may feel like you keep starting multiple different books...
Bottom line: and if you’re not into historical fiction it’s probably not a good choice for you. However the book does give a lot to talk about so it would be good for a bookclub.
