Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Damn, this book was GOOD!

I really loved how this book was split up between the four characters, and it was done very well. I was able to see each character's POV clearly, and I didn't wonder who it was that I was now reading because each character had their own, clear voice.

Some of these characters did annoy me a bit, though, such as Cleo. For the majority of this book, she is a damsel in distress, and takes pride in that. However, by the end, this is made up for and I am excited to see where she goes from here after all the shit that went down at the end of this book!

Magnus and Lucia were, by far, my favorite characters in the book. I loved each of them separately, as well as together, and the brother/sister dynamic really added to this already amazing story. Lucia's abilities are really cool to look at, and I can't wait to explore them more in the coming books. Magnus, my smol boy, is one of the shining lights of this book, and I CANNOT wait to see how his character moves from where he is at present.

We really didn't get a lot of stuff from Jonas. In this book, he seemed more like a secondary character while Cleo, Magnus, and Lucia were the main cast. While I enjoyed his story and his viewpoint on everything, and I understood where he was coming from, I just wish that I had gotten MORE from him, and a bit more character development.

Something else that annoyed me was that everything happened way too easily for some of the characters. Their journeys were hard, yes, but the solutions to some of the things were simple and they solved them quite easily, and this annoyed me. I like books where the situations are HARD to get out of, and the decisions made impact the rest of the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the amazing world-building that this story had. This book was basically a set up to all the shit I know it going to go down later on in the books, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here!

4.25/5 stars.
