Confess by Colleen Hoover

I needed something easy and quick after those other two doozies this month, and this was it. Hoover is a super popular, current author, though I’ve heard a lot of criticism that she idolizes toxic relationships. This book was for sure full of toxic characters. I really wish the characters had more effort to them (the antagonists were very one dimensional and the main characters arc came out of nowhere and didn’t have the work in the writing to support the turn at the end). The whole thing felt like it was reaching for gotcha moments. It wasn’t awful. It wasn’t great. It was okay. You’re not missing anything by not reading it, but if you wanna read it, you won’t be bored with it. This one was another one my 14 year old goddaughter picked out (all her friends are reading Colleen Hoover books, and I was reading Nicholas Sparks when I was in 5th grade, so I’m not gonna fuss. I think it’s fine for a teenager).
