Furyborn is as intriguing as it is confusing. Layers of detail are neither thrown at the reader, nor sewn into the story with great care; often, I found myself wondering if i had managed to miss a detail until it happened too many times. I can see why Legrand kept coming back to this project, there is something special here, but it could have, perhaps should have, been a lot stronger. I will be reading the sequel because I really enjoyed the characters.
