I’m afraid I’m going to damn this book with faint praise: think of it like Terry Pratchett without the satire. The characterization is fairly predictable, as is the plot, and while it’s all nice and cozy (as its author intends it to be), there’s no bite to it at all. A Hallmark fantasy, if you will. I enjoyed it while reading it, but I will never return to it. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that the book is bad. It’s just I want more from my reading these days than a nice time.
