Dune by Frank Herbert

5.0

The scope of Dune impresses me. The characters are all somewhat one dimensional, the villains ridiculous and somewhat offensive caricatures, and the ideas occasionally disturbing, but somehow I still really like this book. I think the reason for that is its scope and ambition which it largely succeeds at. The world is large and complicated with rich history, religion and politics. Its a book that I can see the faults in and yet largely do not care since its just such an impressive and fascinating work.
