The Cactus by Sarah Haywood

3.0

Susan Green is very practical & rational - she keeps tight control on her emotions and the rest of her life and likes it that way. But when she finds herself pregnant right as she loses her own mother things start to unravel.⁣

What I loved with this book was that even though there were many reasons why Susan could be considered unlikable, we got little glimpse of why she is the way that she is all the way through and the kept her feeling far more relatable. ⁣

Along with reasons for her behavior, there were quirky, interesting support characters & even a few twists, all of which I enjoyed. But I still felt just a bit disinterested throughout this one, which has it falling in the 3 star range for me.
