The Pleasure Trap: Mastering the Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness by Alan Goldhamer

3.0

There are some interesting references and discussions around evolution and our body’s capabilities (also comparing to other life forms and how they have adapted or use the “pleasure” reward system to increase the chances of survival or whatever purpose that improves their quality of life).

However, the majority of the time it felt like a long ramble about subjects that are only loosely related to the subject matter, probably so that it can be said they’re referencing science and studies.

For the most part, I felt this book’s primary purpose is to promote the True North clinic/authority of doctors supervising fasts. That’s pretty typical for books produced by someone who’s trying to sell a product or service, it’s just usually less obvious.
