A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles Dickens
This book is set in Georgian London England and when the French Revolution was happening over in Paris France.
I would have to say that despite Dickens being born the century after the Georgian and French Revolution-era happened, he did a great job of writing this book. I have been a fan of Dickens' writing since studying A Christmas Carol back in Year 10/11 and this was the same. I loved the language Dickens portrayed in these characters and for some, I think he was (like A Christmas Carol) using some of the characters, especially in the final part of the book to mouth off his own experiences growing up pretty much poor. I also felt that the plot was going in one direction and kept with it, which made my predictions for the chapter and there were several moments that I went 'Aha the story has really begun now' as there was loads of character development and also moments that made me happy and sad. The downside for me with this book was that it was a very heavy book of literature and I kept on putting it down and then picking it up months later, which was fine as I got to enjoy the literature more, but I would've liked something that kept me reading.
Would recommend it to someone who loves classical books and also loves a heavy classic book of literature
