I'm So (Not) Over You
by Kosoko Jackson
1.5 stars
i just feel bad about giving books 1 star so i'll give it an extra 0.5, since it doesn't deserve a spot on the worst books i've ever read
.... but it's pretty close.
look, i really wanted to like this one, too. i usually don't like second chance love stories but i love fake dating and mixing those tropes seemed intriguing to me. plus it seemed like a hip queer poc own voices book, and i was sold.
unfortunately this book was a flop for me. i don't know how else to describe it other than riverdale-esque writing; every other line was some performatively woke pop culture reference that just made me cringe. i hated divya and her yas queen style of gbf support, i hated kian's y/n quirky personality, and i hated how bland and nonsensical hudson was (news flash: you don't need to keep calling him by his whole name every goddamn time).
also this book was just so HORNY that it felt uncalled for
