Pageboy by Elliot Page

2.0

I had a different anticipation for this book than the content actually described.

I really didn’t like his writing style as the event order of this book wasn’t linear which is fine but it wasn’t clear when we had gone back in time or fast forwarded to future.

I also thought that the contents of this memoir did not live up to the hype for me as majority of chapters just covered who they’d been in romantic/sexual relationships with and that they’d ended mostly because
someone was closeted / fear of being publicly out
which could’ve been covered in a third of the book to move onto other themes.

I was shocked at the quantity and severity of verbal threats he endured growing up as someone suspected of being gay and then out as gay. This was really sad and hard to read. He didn’t go much into how this affected him emotionally or what he did to move through some of these events which would definitely shake you up.

I also wanted more insight into their process for top-surgery and mentioning of being on T in more depth.
