If I Had to Sum It Up…
What a beautiful friendship!
Not T.J. Klune’s strongest book, but still worth a read if you’re in the mood for fantasy. The characters are quirky and lovable (you’ll fall for the robots, promise!), though the second half didn’t quite keep the same magic for me.
If You Don’t Mind a Longer Ramble…
The beginning was absolutely delightful. I adored this little friend group—everyone is different, sometimes clashing, but always accepting and loving each other as they are. It was pure comfort reading, heartwarming without ever feeling too cheesy. The banter between Rambo and nurse Ratched especially had me grinning, and the cozy setting added perfectly to the vibe.
The plot itself has twists and tension, but somewhere in the second half it lost me a bit. I think I just wanted to stay in that wholesome, cozy space rather than shift into more action and atmosphere. Totally a “me” thing—it just wasn’t the comfort read I was secretly hoping for.
The ending was realistic and quite lovely, though I personally wouldn’t have minded a touch more “happily ever after.” Still, I can absolutely see this being a good read if you’re looking for more suspense and story than I was.
