i'm the tiniest bit disappointed in this one. i've read a good half of everything riordan has written by now, and i think what didn't land for me with this one was mostly:
- the humour that worked so well in previous books (especially in pjo and mcga) just isn't here
- in my opinion he writes fantasy better than science fiction
- this is a stand-alone, so the characters, settings etc didn't get nearly enough time to be fully fleshed out
on the other hand, ester harding. that's it. i adored her and she was so well-written:')
very diverse in general, good enough middle grade science fiction—but i'm also glad uncle rick's returning to the riordanverse this year
