Her Vicious Angel by Kate Raven, Kate Raven
3.0

This dark mafia/bratva romance comes with a plethora of trigger warnings, so be sure to check those before reading.

“Dear Dr. Cerise St. Just, this is a job offer. You will get paid $2.5 million American dollars to move to Russia and marry my son Andrei Petrovic. Don’t ask questions.”

After some light Google stalking and erroneous assumptions, Cerice jumps on the mail-order bride train as a fix for her student loan woes. But her groom-to-be isn’t a theater owner, but rather the son of the Pakhan and a terrifying, possessive, unhinged, and powerful man with no intention of marrying.

I enjoy a dark mafia romance on occasion, and while the premise intrigued me, this book didn’t quite live up to my hopes.

I didn’t get the character development and emotional connection between Andrei and Cerice that I was after. I also would have liked an explanation as to why Cerice was chosen for Andrei. What brought her to the Pakhan’s attention as a potential bride for his son?

This book is a quick read at under 200 pages and has all the violence, alpha male touch her and die vibes, and smutty scenes you expect in a dark mafia romance. If that’s your jam, pick it up on KU.

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
