I loved it and by that I mean I was completely miserable. I found myself stumbling upon how much real depth there was to the main character's fleshed out portraits. I found myself questioning Rooney's portrayal of sexual dynamics within the relationships in the book and was underwhelmed by the ending and some of the book's secondary characters; however, the main story, characters, and the way the book was written saved it for me. For those who love Sally Rooney, this will be an out of the park hit, for those who don't, well, I'm not sure this will change anyone's mind. Regardless, Rooney makes the trials and tribulations of the push and pull friendship and love between two people so heartbreaking where others could easily make it feel frivolous or unimportant.
Graphic: Domestic abuse
Moderate: Toxic relationship
Minor: Suicidal thoughts
