“War doesn’t determine who’s right. War determines who remains.”
Brutal. The start versus the end is so drastically different. It begins as an exciting Hero’s Journey plot line and ends with the most devastating war crimes imaginable. The main character, Rin, becomes unrecognizable the moment you think you know her. This story is a whole lot of things—fantasy, politics, social commentary. It’s particularly brutal to read while we’re on the potential brink of WWIII, but I enjoyed it.
