A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

4.0

I finally did it. After all these years of ignoring this book, attempting it, putting it back on my shelf, etc, I did it. And I actually liked it. I decided to give it a go again bc every 30-something mom friend I meet is obsessed with this series, and I want to talk books with my new friends. Soooo, sacrifices must be made.

Since I kind of know what happens in this series, that did affect my read. I knew not to get too invested in certain relationships.

I was completely creeped out by Rhysand. And I know, I know. I think I’m supposed to be or whatever. But he was a creepo in here.

Tamlin kind of gave me the ick too once he got all weird about everything.

Feyre, well she’s Katniss Everdeen - got a bow and a bad attitude. Everything that should be hard is a little too easy for her.

Somehow I actually didn’t know this was a Beauty and the Beast retelling until I started reading it this time. If Beauty and the Beast and The Hunger Games and maybe The Phantom of the Opera (only bc of the masks, I couldn’t stop thinking about the masks!) had a baby, I guess it would be this book.

Everyone assures me the second book is the best - I will give it a shot.
