Becoming by Michelle Obama

5.0

Synopsis: Michelle Obama tells the story about her life, her relationship with Barack Obama and their life in the presidency. This is not a book about politics (even though there are some politic related stories) it is about her journey.

Review: This is an amazing book. I listened to it in audible, it is beautifully written and narrated by the author. This book is not about politics, it is about her life. I really enjoyed learning more about her life before and after the white house. I felt so many emotions while reading this book, I laughed, I cried, felt joy and anger. I felt inspired by her life and accomplishments as a woman. There were some things that I already knew, however, she made me re-live them in a way that I haven’t felt before (for example, election nights in 2008, 2012 and 2016). Then there were personal things I didn’t know and I appreciated her sharing those with the world.

I liked this book so much that I’m going to buy the hardcover version so I can have it and read back certain chapters. I think this is a book that everyone would find something to relate to. Go read it!

One of my favorite quotes: “Becoming is never giving up on the idea that there’s more growing up to be done”
