The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn
4.0

I don't think I've ever finished a book this quickly. I finished it in under 24 hours. That's unheard of, at least for me. I think that says something about this book (and myself). A typical slow reader like myself only reads quickly when there's a gripping plot and witty characters.  This was certainly no exception.  I may have actually enjoyed this book more than the first; I say that, though, it mostly just has to do with the fact that the two main characters did not, in fact, infuriate me. I loved Kate and her quick wit around Anthony, who just had undeniable charm.  A lovely continuation for the Bridgertons, indeed.  Anthony quickly became one of my favorites after the first season of the show aired (though I had determined Colin to be my favorite after only reading the first book), and might I just say, without spoiling anything, that I too felt as though the air of death lingered over these characters.  In this series I have a bad habit of thinking some main character is going to die, so the first line of this book just shook me to my core.  What can I say? This book was perfect for a quick read to launch 2021, and though I may have been a bit unnerved at certain comments made throughout the book, overall this second installment proved to be a charming sequel.
