My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises
by Fredrik Backman
Also translated as “My Grandmother Apologises” which makes better sense!
This book is told from the perspective of a seven-year old child and one of the things I loved so much about the book is that it uses the language and understanding of a seven-year old child (albeit a precociously bright neurologically diverse seven year old child). Not the understanding of an adult framed as the view of a child.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book as much as the other books I have read by this author, but by half way through I was totally hooked and it was moving up to being my favourite of his books. It is funny and sad. But wonderful!
