The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Did not finish book. Stopped at 27%.
This book is simply horrible.
The author is making fun of every trope possible - hero`s journey, undying love, friendships for life. The writing style is so not my cup of tea. The author`s commentaries are mostly wanna-be-witty phrases, but in reality I was either bored or annoyed or both when he will intervene in the story. The backstory of the characters was also boring and felt flat.
The protagonists are both brainless, one trick pony figures - Buttercup is just pretty (yes, that`s all about her, character development what?), Westley is just... strong (or has a lot of psychiatric problems). Their love feels constructed for the sake of throwing the love trope in this book.
It is mostly a satire and everything the author says through it`s characters is either boring/plain/stupid/makes no sense, also there were a few moments that made me uncomfortable (in the first chapter, author speaks about his wife in not a very endearing manner. In another, he makes fun of turks, saying that their babes are huge. I think that a lot of things that were written in the book would be frown upon badly - the author might be even be cancelled - if The Princess Bride would have been written in 2023).
I think that the idea of this book is sold like a fantastical fairy tale, with lots of love, friendship, adventure, but in reality, it`s a satire (but truly, a mocking of all these motives) and I personally can`t see the appeal. I liked absolutely nothing about it.
