This series seems to be right on the edge of being something I would really enjoy, but it just can't seem to tip the scales. I think the character development in this book was a lot more present on the page than the last book, which I appreciate, but I still felt like the story was just lacking that extra spark. The beginning with Lucas coming out to scoop Ben off the side of the road had all of the tenderness/sternness that I love to see, but I felt like the Daddy Energy after that was just not at the same level for the rest of the book. The scene where he confronts Peter sparked the protective instincts again, but I just wasn't really feeling the vibes enough. I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the characters, and I'll continue with the series in hopes that the next one will hit that sweet spot I'm looking for.
