Pirate Enlightenment, or the Real Libertalia by David Graeber

3.0

There are interesting aspects of this book, but unfortunately I have to agree with many other reviewers in that this really should just be an essay. Much of the book is Graeber taking us through his process of figuring out just what to make of the rather sparse history there is. Personally, this was tough to pay attention to. This was, for me, an interesting story within a swirl of uncertain accounts and speculation (albeit, careful speculation).
