Blow Your House Down: A Story of Family, Feminism, and Treason by Gina Frangello

adventurous challenging dark reflective slow-paced

3.5

Have to think on this one. Wasn’t quite what I was expecting from the synopsis, it certainly was an interesting and somewhat frustrating read at times.

Frangello doesn’t mince words about things she did and the regrets & pride she has about doing them. It’s admirable that she is forward enough to tell her story about her deteriorating marriage and life struggles in such detail but it’s hard to sympathize with her at times. No hate for having the strength and courage to leave an abusive marriage, but cheating on your spouse to kickstart your eventual separation isn’t gonna win you lots of pity from many readers.

This had a lot of ideas that kinda came together in the end but this was a frustrating read for me to reconcile. May revisit this later after some further reflection but I don’t think I’d pick this one up again quickly.
