Dead Poets Society by N.H. Kleinbaum

1.5

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but...just watch the movie.

As a Dead Poets Society superfan, I'm extremely disappointed with this novelization. It mirrors the film well and tells the story, but that's exactly where it falls flat. There's no scene setting. No narrative. Out of all 166 pages, there were only three (THREE!!!!!) lines of inner dialogue from the characters. Not to mention that in additional scenes the author DID add to this book, two of them involved some form of objectifying (or, spoiler alert, SA'ing) women. Gross.

This story was just not translated well into this format. It lacked literary charm. At least it'll make a good bookshelf decoration from here on out.

(+1 star because Keating deserves it. O Captain! My Captain!)
