Lighthearted fantasy with T. Kingfisher's usual expert prose, lovable characters and mix of pragmatic optimism. Labeled as a young adult book, but really the only major difference to me between this and Nettle & Bone is the age of the protagonist. I always love that her books never shy away from humanity's darker side, but treats it as something other peoples' inherent better nature is bound to overcome. Her characters aren't afraid to show everyday ordinary love for each other too, which I adore. I felt really warm and positive after finishing this book.
