The Cat in the Hat
by Dr. Seuss
The Cat in the Hat is probably one of the most transitional books available out there for children. It's considered a classic, mainly because of the silly cat and his antics, but also the rhymes that he speaks in.
One day, a boy and a girl were bored and didn't what to do because it was raining. The Cat in the Hat decides to pop by and lighten up their afternoon with some fun games. But the goldfish stated he was up to no good, and could not be trusted. He left the house a mess, and the children are worried about what their mother would say. Luckily, he comes back to help clean up. But the mother never finds out what the children did that afternoon.
The rhymes are fun, the words are easy enough for children to learn on their own. The illustrations are one only a few tones, due to the age of the book. Regardless, children will like this book for the Cat and his mischievous Thing 1 and Thing 2.
