Locklands by Robert Jackson Bennett
5.0
Outstanding finish to this series.
In book 3, we're 8 years after the end of book 2, Shorefall and the world is at war.
Sancia and Berenice are trying to offer refuge to all people in an effort to keep them from being turned into tools by the Construct, Tevanne.
Tevanne is entering their end game, though, and has plans to force an end to the war and everything else.
This is not 100% satisfying, but I think that makes the ending much better.
This book has so many themes and emotions wound up in it. It's about community, acceptance, family, and most importantly, it's about the sacrifices we make for those we love and the things we believe in.
This flows so well, and these characters are ones I actually care about.
With each new series by Robert Jackson Bennett, you can feel his skill as a writer grow. The depth of the characters and the plot woven seamlessly through the world building without stalling out.
I adored this series.
